The University of Costa Rica (UCR) is the oldest and largest public university in Costa Rica. It has over 40,000 students and 12 campuses throughout the country, and has established itself as the best university in Central America as well as being among the twenty best in Latin America. It is recognized for its academic quality and research contributions.
 
EmpDis 2019 will be held at the Rodrigo Facio Campus, located in San Pedro de Montes de Oca´s area, in the city of San José. This is the most important campus of the University of Costa Rica, where the Rectory, and the main faculties and research centers are located. Its central location allows an easy connection by public transport to different places in San José.

Transport from the airport
 

Taxi Aeropuerto is the airport taxi company (orange vehicles with a distinctive company logo). A trip from the airport to the University of Costa Rica costs approx. 35 dollars (21,000 colones), measured with a taximeter onboard all their vehicles. There is also a bus system that goes from the airport into San José´s town. Moreover, many hotels offer airport-hotel transport service.
 

Postgraduate Program in Linguistics (co-organizer of EmpDis 2019)

The Postgraduate Program in Linguistics of the UCR is over 40 years old and offers the internationally accredited Academic Master's Degree in Linguistics with lecturers who stand out for their extensive research experience. The academic training received by the students combines the traditional perspectives of linguistics (morphosyntax, phonetics, phonology, lexicography) with the most innovative ones (natural language processing, corpus linguistics, linguistic revitalization, multimodal discourse analysis).
