The new joint Doctorate–MBA program by Heidelberg University and Mannheim Business School offers a unique opportunity to combine cutting-edge scientific research with top-tier business education. Over 24 months, doctoral candidates continue to pursue their doctorate while earning an MBA at an internationally top ranked business school, working in interdisciplinary teams to turn top-notch research into real ventures. The program starts in September 2026, and applications are possible until February 27, 2026.
The program is aimed at doctoral candidates in the natural sciences, life sciences, or engineering sciences who have completed at least one year of their doctorate by September 2026. Applicants should be working on a research topic with clear start-up and commercialization potential and be at or near the proof-of-concept stage. Strong entrepreneurial motivation and willingness to work in interdisciplinary teams are essential, as well as having a mentor who actively supports the combined program.
Applications are reviewed jointly by Heidelberg University and Mannheim Business School, and selected candidates will be invited to an on-site interview, for which hei_INNOVATION provides preparatory support. Online information sessions from Mannheim Business School will be held before the deadline, with dates to be announced soon.
