Guest auditors who attend lectures or courses at Heidelberg University must pay a small fee.


Guest auditor fees are charged by Heidelberg University in accordance with § 17 of the State Higher Education Fees Act (Landeshochschulgebührengesetz, LHGebG) and the University’s regulations on guest auditor fees (Gasthörergebührensatzung). The fee for auditing is calculated on the basis of the number of contact hours attended per week.

  • 1 - 4 hours per week: 51.00 EUR
  • 5 - 6 hours per week: 76.00 EUR
  • 7 - 10 hours per week: 102.00 EUR

A maximum of 10 semester hours per week can be taken.

In exceptional cases (ALG II recipients), the fee can be reduced on application with appropriate proof.

Guest auditors are not obliged to pay an annual fee to the University Library.

Payment of fees

Along with your certificate of auditor status, you will receive an invoice for auditing fees. Please transfer the requested sum to Heidelberg University using the bank details provided. Fees for the summer semester are payable by 1 April. Fees for the winter semester are payable by 1 October. Fees may also be transferred immediately after receipt of proof or your registration as a guest auditor.
