Preparatory German Language Course

Exchange students who wish to improve their command of the German language before the start of the semester are strongly encouraged to take part in the Preparatory German Language Course offered by our International Study Center. This four week program takes place in the month before the lecture period starts (October/March) and includes 80 hours of language instruction at all levels.

Attending the course will not only improve your language skill, but also help you adjust to your new environment, become familiar with the University and build a new circle friends before the lecture period starts.

Supplementary German Language Courses during Lecture Periods

During the semester, language instruction specially designed for exchange students is offered for 4 to 8 hours a week, supplementing your university courses. In addition to general language courses at all levels, you will also find subject-related courses such as Business and Law, German for Natural Science Majors, Literature and Film Studies, Philosophy etc. These courses are intended for students with a solid command of German (at least level B2, Creative Writing at A2, B1 and B2 levels).

Exchange students whose language proficiency is not sufficient to take part in university courses in their subject(s) may be admitted to an intensive German language course upon prior consultation with the International Relations Office (20 hours of instruction per week throughout the semester).
