International applicants from non-EU/EEA countries with a non-German university entrance qualification must submit an application for admission for all subjects studied at Bachelor level, or with a concluding “state examination”, to Heidelberg University. The places for study are allocated by the University.
In courses of study with an entrance examination, proof of additional qualifications is linked to the admission. Information on the additional qualifications required can be found in the subject-specific selection rules and admission regulations. If not regulated in the subject-specific selection and admission regulations the subject-specific study and examination regulations may also stipulate the access and admission requirements to be fulfilled. Further details can be found in the corresponding regulations.
As an international student applicant without EU or EEA citizenship with a foreign university entrance qualification, you apply online and upload the documents required for the application as PDF files.
Applications for all undergraduate degree programmes are submitted via the heiCO application portal. The application deadline is a statutory deadline. Application documents received by Heidelberg University after the application deadline cannot be considered in the selection process.
Winter Semester: 01.06. - 15.07.
The University allocates study places in accordance with the provisions of the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act and the applicable subject-specific selection regulations/admission regulations or study and examination regulations.
Following successful admission, you will receive a request to accept your university place within a deadline displayed there in your heiCO account before you are able to continue with online registration. If you do not accept your university place by the deadline, your entitlement to the place will lapse.
Once you have been admitted, you will be asked in your heiCO account to accept the study place within the deadline indicated there. If you do not accept the study place by the deadline, your entitlement to the study place will expire.
You then apply for enrolment online and by submitting documents by post to the Student Administration Office within the enrolment period specified in the letter of admission.
Please send these to the following address:
Heidelberg University
Student Administration
Seminarstr. 2
69117 Heidelberg
and please note that the documents to be submitted by post for your enrollment must also be received by Heidelberg University by the deadline stated in your letter of admission.

Please note that the Uni-ID is allocated at the earliest from 1 February for the summer semester and at the earliest from 1 August for the winter semester.
If your certificate is issued in a name other than your current name, you must provide official proof of your name change.
Certificates must always be submitted in the original language of the country of origin and, if necessary, additionally in English or German translation. If certificates in a non-English-speaking country of origin are issued in English in addition to the original language, this English-language version is deemed to be the original language certificate. The same applies to certificate versions in German. Translations must also be notarized. Translators are not allowed to certify original-language documents, only the translations they have produced themselves. Only if the original stamp of the translator is on the submitted translation is an additional certification not required.
