International applicants from non-EU/EEA countries with a non-German university entrance qualification must submit an application for admission for all subjects studied at Bachelor level, or with a concluding “state examination”, to Heidelberg University. The places for study are allocated by the University.
In courses of study with an entrance examination, proof of additional qualifications is linked to the admission. Information on the additional qualifications required can be found in the subject-specific selection rules and admission regulations. If not regulated in the subject-specific selection and admission regulations the subject-specific study and examination regulations may also stipulate the access and admission requirements to be fulfilled. Further details can be found in the corresponding regulations.
As an international student applicant without EU or EEA citizenship with a foreign university entrance qualification, you apply online and upload the documents required for the application as PDF files.
Applications for all undergraduate degree programmes are submitted via the heiCO application portal. The application deadline is a statutory deadline. Application documents received by Heidelberg University after the application deadline cannot be considered in the selection process.
Winter Semester: 01.06. - 15.07.
The University allocates study places in accordance with the provisions of the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act and the applicable subject-specific selection regulations/admission regulations or study and examination regulations.
Following successful admission, you will receive a request to accept your university place within a deadline displayed there in your heiCO account before you are able to continue with online registration. If you do not accept your university place by the deadline, your entitlement to the place will lapse.
International applicants without EU or EEA citizenship with a foreign higher education entrance qualification must apply for admission to the university for all subjects with a Bachelor's degree or state examination as the final goal. The places for this group of applicants are allocated directly by the university.
If an application for a degree programme is submitted in due form and time, it will be examined whether prospective students fulfil the formal legal admission requirements for taking up a subject-related degree programme at the University.
In some degree programmes, the suitability of applicants is determined within the framework of entrance examination procedures (AP). Applicants who meet the requirements according to the respective statutes for the university's own entrance examination procedures or the study and examination regulations are admitted to the programme.
Applications for all undergraduate degree programmes are submitted via the heiCO application portal.
Admission requirements for undergraduate degree programmes (leading to a Bachelor's degree or state examination) at Heidelberg University are, in principle, a university entrance qualification and very good German language skills. When assessing foreign educational certificates, Heidelberg University follows the assessment suggestions of the Central Office for Foreign Education.
