APPLICATION FOR THE FIRST ACADEMIC SEMESTER MASTER OF EDUCATION
If you have successfully completed a polyvalent Bachelor’s degree programme with a teaching degree option, or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree programme with relevance to teaching (i.e. a Bachelor of Education) at Heidelberg University and would like to pursue a career as a teacher, you have the opportunity to apply for the Master of Education (M. Ed.) twice a year. This degree programme qualifies you to teach in a German secondary school (Gymnasium).

Information on Application and Admission
An application can already be submitted in the final Bachelor’s semester and requires corresponding study planning. Applicants who have been admitted may enroll in this degree program directly after receiving the letter of admission for the Master of Education profile Gymnasium without submitting the Bachelor’s degree certificate or a provisional certificate.
To do so, all written and oral examination components taken as part of the degree program, the Bachelor’s thesis, and, where applicable, oral final examinations must be completed by September 30 for the winter semester, or by March 31 for the summer semester (exception: in some subjects, examinations from a summer semester are still held up to the start of the following winter semester, or examinations from a winter semester up to the start of the following summer semester).
