German citizensEntrance examination procedure

Formal applications for subjects with entrance examination must be submitted. Regardless of whether or not a degree programme is admission-restricted, the entrance examination procedure indicates the applicant’s suitability for the programme, as well as his or her motivation for study.

Anyone who does not fulfil the minimum requirements to study the given subject, will not be admitted to the degree programme at Heidelberg University. Regardless of their nationality and the university entrance qualification they hold (i.e. German or non-German), all applicants must complete the entrance examination procedure. Applicants may not take part in the entrance examination procedure more than twice. If interviews or tests are held, please inquire about the dates in good time; the invitations are sent out shortly beforehand due to the high number of applicants.
