Please apply for a visa for study purposes immediately after receiving your letter of admission, as the waiting times at the German diplomatic missions abroad can be considerable.

Registration

Within the time period stated in your letter of admission admitted students must register at the university. You will find the information on how to enrol and on related issues like taking out health insurance on the website “Enrolment”.

If you are having difficulties with your enrolment, please get in contact with the University's Registrar's Office via:

Support Services and Orientation Events

After your admission and starting the enrolment process, you will no doubt have further questions about various aspects of your studies and stay in Heidelberg. The "Advisory and Support Services for International Students and Scholars" department of the International Relations Office will be happy to provide you with information and support.

In addition to various support services, we offer a general student advisory service that you can contact with any questions you may have.

At the beginning of the semester, first-year students can get to know the university and their degree program at various events. Special orientation days are held for international first-year students in the week before the start of lectures to make it easier for this group to start their studies in Germany and in Heidelberg.
