Course Content

The Master’s degree programme in History enhances and consolidates the methodological and subject-specific knowledge and skills acquired during the BA programme. This degree programme emphasizes research-oriented study and a broad interdisciplinary approach and combines traditional competencies in History studies with skills in new cultural and instructional techniques. Students learn how to conduct scientific-historical research on their own based on critical assessment of information and also learn how to work independently in areas that require skills in information science or cultural science.

Course Structure

The Master’s degree programme in History requires students to choose two fields, of which one shall be the specialisation, from all periods, regions and subject areas covered in the BA programme. Further, they are expected to gain in-depth knowledge of the fields in intensive, methodological and research modules. The programme culminates in the completion of the Master's thesis in the 4th academic semester.
