Scholarship opportunities for international students
Studying in Germany involves certain costs – which makes it even more important to inform yourself about financing options at an early stage. Please note that, compared to other countries, there are relatively few opportunities to receive a scholarship for studying in Germany. In addition, it is usually necessary to apply for a scholarship very early on – often even before applying for a place at university. This means that international applicants must find out about the various scholarship opportunities in their home country and generally begin the application process there.
Information on scholarships for studying in Germany is provided by German missions abroad (embassies/consulates), the Goethe Institute, as well as DAAD offices. Since the number of available scholarships is very limited, you should also look into funding opportunities by your home country (from the government or other scholarship providers).
Initial information on scholarships and funding opportunities for studying or doing a doctorate in Germany is also available online. If you have any questions about the respective scholarships and funding offers, please contact the responsible contact persons listed on the websites below directly. The International Relations Office at Heidelberg University cannot provide any information about individual scholarships.
