Funds for the Promotion of Edition Projects
The purpose of the HEDIT (Heidelberg Editions and Text Development) Research Center Fund is to provide quick and straightforward funding for specific support of Heidelberg edition and text development projects and their planning, thereby promoting the editorial activities of Heidelberg researchers.
What can be applied for?
Financial assistance to cover the following costs can be applied for:
- Open access fees for editions/text development projects
- Small equipment (scanners, cameras, etc.)
- Reproduction costs (scans, etc.)
- Subsidies for personnel costs, in particular for assistants
- Further training opportunities for managers and employees in edition and text development projects (workshops, conferences, summer schools, etc.)
- Research trips (archive and library research, etc.)
Printing subsidies and software licenses cannot be applied for (software licenses can be obtained directly from the research center outside of the fund).
Who is eligible to submit an application?
Any member of HEDIT is eligible to submit an application. The Executive Board decides on membership upon application.
What is the maximum amount of funding available?
Funding of up to €5,000 per person and project per year is available. A total of €20,000 per year is available for 2024 and 2025.
To whom should the application be addressed?
The application must be addressed to the HEDIT Executive Board. If you have any questions, please contact the scientific management.
What should the application look like?
The application can be submitted informally. A cover letter explaining why financial support is needed and a cost breakdown are expected. A project description can be attached as an appendix. If the project to be supported is already receiving financial support, it must be explained why the costs cannot be financed from project funds.
A checklist for submitting an application can be found at the bottom of the page.
When can an application be submitted and when will a decision on funding be made?
Applications can be submitted at any time. The board usually meets once a month and decides on funding recommendations. The final decision on funding rests with the Research Council of Field of Focus 3 and the Vice-Rectorate. Based on the meeting schedule, there is an approximate 6-week period between application submission and approval. We ask that you take this into account when submitting your application.
