Heidelberg Editions and Text Analysis HEDIT

For years, Heidelberg has been continuously implementing projects in editing and text analysis. The HEDIT (Heidelberg Editions and Text Analysis) research center was founded in 2024 not only to link these projects together, but also to strengthen editing activities.

The Research Center and its goals

HEDIT supports ongoing and planned editing projects and repertoires, pools knowledge from individual projects, advises researchers, and initiates new projects. The transition from analog to digital also plays an important role here, with the research center providing support in the form of XML training courses and advisory discussions. HEDIT also establishes contact between scholars working in editorial roles and central institutions, in particular the Heidelberg Center for Digital Humanities, the University Library with HeiEDITIONS, the Digitization Center, and the academic publisher heiUP.

HEDIT consists of a research center director, an interdisciplinary board, and a scientific management and coordination team. The various ways to access the individual services can be found on this page.

The research center invites all those involved in editorial work in Heidelberg to become members. Members of the university and other institutions can apply for membership at any time. Membership allows you to participate in training courses and workshops, use a pool of assistants, and apply for funding for licenses (software, fonts, etc.) or subsidies for edition projects.

Applications for membership and funding should be addressed to the management. The board decides on membership and funding.
