A project team with a wide variety of professional backgrounds and tasks has come together for the introduction of Heidelberg University's new campus management system, heiCO (Heidelberg Campus Online).
In addition to representatives from education and student support, there are administrative experts and IT specialists who are contributing their knowledge to Heidelberg University's currently most comprehensive digitalisation project for the process organisation of the student lifecycle. They are all working on bringing together data that was previously distributed across many different systems into a standardised structure for all users.
A project of this size and structural depth naturally entails substantial change, which must be comprehensible, meaningful and beneficial for everyone. After all, the student lifecycle from application to graduation has already been documented and supported by Heidelberg University in digital systems.
However, these systems were run in parallel, which was demanding for users and often difficult to handle. Furthermore, there were also previously non-digitised processes and document forms. This is where heiCO comes in. It enables all people and institutions at the university to interact with each other smoothly and easily via a single interface.
It is an extremely exciting project that brings together the work and perspectives of many people and at the same time reacts openly and flexibly to the constantly expanding requirements of the very complex, living organism that is Heidelberg University.
