Exchange ProgramsInternships University of Otago

Students of the University of Heidelberg (especially teachers of German and German Studies) have the opportunity to complete an internship in German as a foreign language at the German Department of the University of Otago. Interns have the opportunity to observe in all courses and to take over lessons in the beginners' classes. In addition, they can lead conversation classes in the intermediate and advanced levels.

Duration

one full semester - (semester 1: end of February to beginning of June, or semester 2: beginning of July to mid-October) The internship is unpaid.

Requirements    

 

  • very good knowledge of German and English
  • ability to work independently
  • interest in teaching the German language
  • possibly already experience in teaching
  • intermediate examination or three completed semesters at the time of starting the internship

Documents to be submitted

in English language

 

  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum vitae with study history
  • Letter of recommendation from university lecturer and/or work experience certificate from an internship
  • List of certificates acquired so far (original)
  • If applicable, intermediate examination certificate or Bachelor's degree certificate (confirmed)
  • High school diploma (copy)

Application deadline

The application can be submitted continuously without a closing date. However, it should be submitted at least 6 months before the planned start of the internship.

Please also note the application deadlines for scholarships to finance your internship abroad, such as DAAD scholarships.
