The Evolution of Productivity of Entrepreneurs

Daniel Dippold is a serial entrepreneur. He has founded Emoti, a business which measured emotional intelligence based on sound waves, and Unlimitix. He is furthermore the founder of Sigma Squared Society e.V , the world's largest youth entrepreneurship network, which is represented in over 40 countries and supported by amongst others Bill Clinton. Daniel also built NEWNOW, a dual-generation consultancy and product builder, which reported over 1 million € of sales within the first year of incorporation. By now, NEWNOW has delivered projects for Deutsche Bank, EON, and Philips and counts the former Global CMO of Motorola, the CFO of Procter and Gamble DACH, and the CMO of T-Mobile amongst its partners. Currently, Daniel focusses his energy on growing EWOR, a school and platform for entrepreneurship education.

Joshua Pischtschan currently studies Business Administration at the University of Mannheim and is the chairman of the board of the initiative for entrepreneurship thinc!. thinc! promotes innovative and alternative ways of thinking beyond the Rhein Neckar region and connects students with each other. At thinc! Joshua and his team work every day to present a wide range of events to their members, combining entrepreneurial learnings with student life in a balanced mixture. Like this, thinc! has created a unique cohesion among its members.

Dr. Simone Burel is a shareholder and managing director of LUB GmbH, which she founded in 2015 on the basis of her dissertation on the language of the DAX-30. She has received several awards for her research and practical work, among others from the online platform academics as one of the top ten scientists in 2017, the Society for Applied Linguistics and the highest endowed business development prize of the city of Mannheim. In 2020 Dr. Simone Burel was appointed to the Economic Advisory Board of bw-i (Baden-Württemberg International GmbH) and to the Board of Trustees of the Friends of the University of Mannheim. Among other things, she is also chairwoman of the Advisory Board of the Spenoki GmbH.

Danilo Randazzo is a manager with experience in several industry branches and an international network across all relevant innovation hotspots. As an expert for future trends, innovation scouting, corporate ventures and new business opportunities, he’s responsible for the innovation strategy at Liebherr Home Appliances. He joined the company in July 2021 in the Home Appliance Division as Head of Innovation Scouting and Team Lead Innovation Management and is currently building up a new unit/innovation lab which will be the main touch point for innovative activities within Liebherr. Danilo studied International Management at the ESB Business School in Reutlingen and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Piacenza. After different experiences at Daimler, he joined the Miele Smart Home Lab in 2018. There he was in charge of building up an international network in order to find the best partners for innovative projects and co-creation and founded a strategic initiative called STRATOSFARE, which aims to leverage synergies of local players through a continuos knowledge exchange between local companies and institutions in the OWL-Region.

Anna Hüttl is project manager at NEXT MANNHEIM. She is responsible for the Up2B Accelerator program that provides support for B2B- and IndustryTech Startup. The Up2B Accelerator is a joint project of three regional institutions and aims to foster the Rhein-Neckar-Region as startup hotspot in different fields and industries. Besides that, Anna supports international startups that want to expand to the German market via Mannheim, with individual consulting, match making and connection to experts. Previously, Anna studied an executive Master of Digital Pioneering at Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen and worked in the field of online marketing for various SMEs.

Magnus von Knebel Doeberitz is Professor of Molecular Oncology and Medical Director of the Department of Applied Tumor Biology, Institute of Pathology of the University of Heidelberg. He is also head of the Clinical Cooperation Unit F210 of the German Cancer Research Center and is affiliated with the Molecular Medicine Partner Unit of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL_MMPU). He served as founder and board member of several biotech companies, including mtm-labs (www.mtm-labs.com) that was acquired by Roche in 2011. Magnus von Knebel Doeberitz spent his post doc period in the laboratory of Nobel laureate Harald zur Hausen at DKFZ. 1995 he was appointed as Professor of Molecular Oncology in the Department of Surgery, University of Heidelberg. 2001 he became Medical Director of the Department of Applied Tumour Biology at the University of Heidelberg. His major scientific interests relate to mechanisms of human carcinogenesis by papillomaviruses and DNA mismatch repair deficiency. He identified novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets and validated them in clinical trials. He co-authored more than 300 peer-reviewed articles. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Cancer and member of the Editorial Boards of various other journals in oncology. He received numerous prestigious scientific awards and is inventor of several patent families in his research areas.

Kathrin DiPaola looks back at a long record of academic and industry endeavors and has worked for different institutions and companies in Europe and the U.S. She received a PhD from the University of Maryland and a Master’s Degree from Arizona State University. Until 2010, she held appointments as Assistant Professor and was the youngest and first female Director of Deutsches Haus at New York University. In 2012, she left academia to pursue a career in mobility consulting, where she was responsible for the intersection between products/technologies in social and cultural processes. Her clients included major OEMs, city governments, suppliers, urban planners, and more. In October 2018, she joined Business Sweden, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council, and took on an assignment as Senior Investment Advisor, helping German companies in different sectors to grow and partner with the Swedish innovation ecosystem. Following Business Sweden, Kathrin took on the role of Managing Director Germany for the Swedish tech scale-up TechBuddy, with market presence in Sweden, Spain, Israel and Germany. In March 2021, she returned to New York, where she joined the team of the German Center for Research and Innovation as Program Manager.

Amanda Rohm Daquila stepped into her role as Executive Director of Heidelberg University Association at Heidelberg University's New York office in 2019. Amanda has a strong background in international education, alumni affairs and nonprofit management. She served as Senior Program Director at Cultural Vistas in New York City, an international educational nonprofit organization. She is very familiar with alumni work as she oversaw the founding and development of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Alumni Association (CBYXAA) in her previous position during the last years. Amanda holds a B.A. in Germanic Languages and Literatures and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.A. in Area Studies from Virginia Tech.

As the director of the Foreign Branch Office South Asia at Heidelberg University, Suboor Bakht is responsible for fostering bi- and multilateral research collaborations between Germany and South Asian countries, exchange programmes, setting up Centres of Excellence to promote research and development and liasoning with government officials, policy makers and representatives of national research and education institutions in South Asian countries and Germany. He is a research scholar at the Institute for Gerontology at Heidelberg University and his focus is on productive ageing, in particular policy advice and cohort studies. In the past he held international positions in quality management and intellectual property rights (IPR).

Katja Filippenko studied International Law at Heidelberg University and worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for International Law. During her studies, she successfully participated in international competitions and organized interdisciplinary events such as TEDxHeidelberg. After her graduation she joined SAP as Global Licensing Manager and worked as Design Thinking Coach and Sustainability Champion. Besides that she was also an Expert Consultant and Start Up Mentor. Her passion for sustainability topics and entrepreneurial spirit led her to founding a social and green start up called “Saatgutkonfetti/Seedconfetti” together with Philip Weyer and Christoph Trimborn. Their main product, seedconfetti, is not only a sustainable product for celebrations but rather a tool to inspire people to use products with positive impact for the environment, avoid waste and support biodiversity while having fun. Seedconfetti won the Green Concept Award and Sozial ist Sexy Award.
