Professorium“We’re happy that you decided for Universität Heidelberg”

24 June 2022

Recently appointed professors meet in the Great Hall of the New University by invitation of the Rector

“Get to know your university. Come together,” Prof. Dr Bernhard Eitel told the newly appointed colleagues at Heidelberg University, appealing to them to incorporate the “living spirit” of Ruperto Carola. After a break due to the Covid pandemic, the Rector had again extended the invitation to a professorium, – a meeting of new professors, which, unlike in previous years, took place in the Great Hall of the New University instead of in the Great Hall of the Old University.

It is a tradition for the Rector to host a professorium in both the summer and the winter semesters. This event, however, was for the just under 100 professors who had taken up their posts at one of the 13 faculties of Heidelberg University in the last three years. The Rector invited them to mount the stage in groups, in order to personally introduce them and to commend the academic community of Ruperto Carola. “We’re glad you’re here,” said Prof. Eitel. “We’re happy that you decided for Heidelberg.”

The musical setting for the professorium on 22 June 2022 was provided by members of the Collegium Musicum, the orchestra of Heidelberg University, conducted by University Music Director Michael Sekulla. Afterwards, a reception in the foyer and courtyard of the New University gave those present the opportunity for encounter and exchange.
