STUDY HUB in Bergheim will offer 200 study spaces – opening on 4 May

With the opening of the STUDY HUB, Heidelberg University is expanding the study spaces available to students. The new learning center is being created in Bergheim in cooperation with the student services organization Studierendenwerk Heidelberg. Around 200 study spaces and group rooms have been set up for this purpose in the former Volksbank Heidelberg building and will be managed by the University Library. They will be available to students of Heidelberg University and Heidelberg University of Education. The new facility at Kurfürsten-Anlage 8 will be officially opened with a ceremony on 4 May.

Learning Center

By establishing the STUDY HUB, Heidelberg University is responding to high demand for study and work spaces. Across a total area of around 1,100 square meters, the center offers individual study spaces, 14 group study rooms, two video conference rooms, standing desks and open learning areas. The facilities are rounded off by a vending-machine café operated by the Studierendenwerk. The STUDY HUB will be open Monday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The former Volksbank building near Bismarckplatz is already being used by Studierendenwerk Heidelberg. The new cooperation will also see the former banking hall on the ground floor converted into a space for students.

The official opening of the STUDY HUB, hosted by Heidelberg University and Studierendenwerk Heidelberg, begins on 4 May at 10 a.m. with a reception. Welcoming addresses by Prof. Dr Silke Hertel, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Teaching at Heidelberg University, Prof. Dr Perizat Daglioglu, Managing Director of Studierendenwerk Heidelberg, and representatives of the constituted student body of Ruperto Carola and Volksbank Heidelberg will follow at 12 noon.
