Large crowd and good atmosphere at the Ruperto Carola Summer Party
“You all contribute to making our university a lively, diverse place – marked by exchange, engagement, creativity and openness,” said Rector Prof. Dr Frauke Melchior when welcoming the guests at the Ruperto Carola Summer Party. “And that is exactly what we want to celebrate today: the diversity of our community.” Students, staff and also friends, supporters and alumni of Heidelberg University were meeting for an atmospheric evening in the heart of the old city.
The festivity took place in the Marstall quadrangle, for the last time prior to a major renovation of the student refectory. True to the motto “Celebrating diversity” members of the university – and all those connected with it – came together last Friday (11 July 2025) for the traditional summer party and to enjoy conversations, dancing and music.
After the greeting by the Rector of the university and a musical curtain-raiser from the wind ensemble of Collegium Musicum, the Teddy Fonda Combo continued with live music. Later, DJ SebRock took over as disk jockey. The Mannheim media artist Benjamin Sandro Jantzen showed a spectacular video mapping that was projected onto the neighboring building. In time-honored fashion, the Heidelberg Student Services Organization provided party food and beverages for the approximately 3,000 guests at the summer get-together.
