University Meeting of Newly Appointed Professors: “We’re Proud We Were Able to Attract You to Our University”

“We’re proud we were able to attract you to our university and look forward to many years of good cooperation.” With these words Prof. Dr Frauke Melchior, Rector of Ruperto Carola, greeted the newly appointed professors who had been invited to get to know each other and interact personally in the Senate Hall of the Old University. Kanzler Jens Andreas Meinen also welcomed the new members of the professorial body. He took many decisions every day, he said – but those relating to appointments were the most important.

A total of 23 new professors, who had taken up their appointment at Heidelberg University in the last few months, accepted the Rector’s invitation to briefly introduce themselves and their academic field to their colleagues. The Rectorate and the directors of the different divisions in the university administration were then available for conversation and offered their support in all matters of research, teaching, student affairs and transfer. “We hope that you started off well and that together we can make great progress,” the Rector emphasized. 

The meeting of newly appointed professors took place on 11 February 2026 in the Old University.
