27 March 2026
Her remit includes external and internal communications and the role of press officer
Katrina Jordan, communicator and journalist, transfers to Heidelberg University as of April this year, in order from May to take on the direction of the Rectorate’s Communications and Marketing department and the role of press officer. She follows Marietta Fuhrmann-Koch, who set up the department and served as its director and also as spokesperson for the university from 2009. Katrina Jordan will guide and coordinate the university’s external and internal communication activities at Ruperto Carola. She was previously responsible for these areas for several years at the University of Passau.

It was with the aim of shaping the dialogue between academia and the public, and also communications within the university, that Katrina Jordan took on the direction of the Communications and Marketing division at the University of Passau in October 2021. She had already worked as its press officer from September 2012 and as head of the media relations section. Before that, she had supported the web editorial team and the editorial board of the university magazine “Campus Passau”. Katrina Jordan graduated in English studies and political science in Passau. Parallel to her Magister course she served as a trainee on a scholarship at the Passauer Neue Presse, where she was then employed in various sections.
Marietta Fuhrmann-Koch will remain connected to Heidelberg University. As the first managing director of the reopened Haus Buhl, she will develop the new strategic and thematic orientation of this university event and conference center in the heart of the Old City in close cooperation with the Rectorate, and will direct activities there.
