Heidelberg third in Germany – Only three German universities represented in the “Top 100” worldwide

Ruperto Carola remains among the top three of Germany’s best universities. In the QS World University Ranking 2019/2020, Heidelberg places third behind Munich’s Technical University (55) and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (63). Heidelberg University ranks 66th internationally, and 19th in European-wide comparison. Ruperto Carola and the two Munich universities are the only German universities represented in the “Top 100” in the QS Ranking.

The QS World University Ranking weights academic reputation (40 percent), faculty-student ratio, and citations per faculty (20 percent each). Other criteria are employer reputation (10 percent) and the share of international scholars and international students (five percent each). The current ranking includes 1,000 universities from 82 countries.
