Invitation to the ceremonial opening

On October 6, the Camilla and Georg Jellinek Center for Ethics at Heidelberg University will be officially opened in the university's Great Hall.

With this center, Heidelberg University is reaffirming its commitment to promoting responsible practice in science and society. The Jellinek Center creates an open platform for interdisciplinary collaboration on topics rooted in or aligned with ethics. This aims to strengthen the exploration of ethical challenges as an integral part of academic practice and professionalism. At the same time, the center will serve as a central point of contact for ethical issues in research and teaching and promote participatory dialogue between science and society. To this end, the Jellinek Center will leverage the diversity and strengths of the comprehensive university and seek exchange with people in the city of Heidelberg and beyond.

With music, lectures, and discussions, the founding ceremony will address pressing ethical questions from the perspective of various sciences, as well as the center's namesakes Camilla and Georg Jellinek and the future of the center. We are particularly looking forward to the keynote address by Prof. Dr. Thomas W. Simpson (University of Oxford). Afterwards, you are invited to a reception in the Bel Etage at 1:00 p.m.
