Camilla and Georg Jellinek Center for Ethics

The Camilla and Georg Jellinek Center for Ethics aims to strengthen ethical reflection in research and teaching across all disciplines, develop ethics as part of academic professionalism, and constructively accompany social debates through dialogue with the public.

Founding phase

The Camilla and Georg Jellinek Center for Ethics is currently in its founding phase. The establishment of the Center was formally initiated on 26 August 2025, following a resolution adopted by Heidelberg University's Senate. The centre extends an invitation to new members who wish to participate in its activities and accomplish its objectives.

Any member of Heidelberg University who is scientifically engaged in an ethics-related field and is willing to contribute to the tasks of the Ethics Center can apply for membership. Research projects or publications in ethics-related fields are desirable but not a prerequisite for membership. The application can be submitted informally to the founding directors via the Ethics Center's office.
