The Scholarship and I
Scholarship holders talk about the path they have embarked on since receiving the Hans-Peter Wild Talent Scholarship. This time, it is Amey's turn.
From India to Heidelberg: My University Experience
Hello everyone,
My name is Amey, and I am a Master’s student at Heidelberg University, studying Scientific Computing. I never imagined that a city thousands of kilometers away from my home in India could feel so welcoming in such a short time. But Heidelberg, with its cobblestone streets, breathtaking castle views, and dynamic academic atmosphere, has already started to feel like a second home.
The university, one of Europe’s oldest, holds an atmosphere of prestige and intellectual pursuit, yet it is vibrant with international students, discussions over coffee, and lively campus events. The Initial days were a whirlwind—adjusting to a new education system, German life, and unpredictable weather! What stood out the most was the warmth and openness of both students and faculty.
Coming from India, I was used to a fastpaced lifestyle, bustling streets, and a culture deeply rooted in tradition and hospitality. I found echoes of this in Heidelberg, especially international students among the community. Conversations with peers from diverse backgrounds have not only enriched my global perspective but also made me feel part of something bigger—a worldwide network of ambitious and like-minded individuals.
I have also discovered that Heidelberg has its own way of teaching patience. Whether it’s adjusting to a more independent learning style or waiting for the next tram to class, I am learning to embrace a more balanced and mindful approach to life.
What excites me the most is the opportunity to engage with the Hans-Peter Wild Talent Scholarship network. This platform not only provides academic support but also encourages innovation, networking, and personal growth. I look forward to collaborating with other scholars, exchanging ideas, and making a meaningful impact.
I believe that Heidelberg University is not just a place to study—it’s a place to grow, to explore, and to redefine what’s possible. I am grateful for this journey and look forward to sharing it with all of you. See you on campus!
