Service Personnel Personnel Administration for Visiting Professorships
Visiting professors are foreign or external academics who are employed by Heidelberg University during their stay and receive remuneration from Heidelberg University. There are also unpaid visiting professorships. The Human Resources Department supports visiting professors from the time they are hired until the end of their employment.
This includes in particular:
- Support and advice on employment law matters
- Application for a certificate for employees with limited income tax liability to the tax office (Stuttgart-Körperschaften)
- Order or adjustment of remuneration at the State Office for Salaries and Pensions (Landesamt für Besoldung und Versorgung / LBV)
The responsibilities of the contact persons are based on your affiliation with a respective faculty or institute.
Employment as a visiting professor takes place on the basis of an employment contract with social security obligations. Please refer to the current information from the Welcome Center regarding visa requirements (see below).
