Funding Funding for Doctoral Initiatives

Do you have an idea for an initiative that you would like to implement as part of your doctorate? There are numerous funding programmes that support a wide range of projects—whether they are conferences, workshops or similar events organized by doctoral candidates themselves. In the following section we present a selection of such programmes.

DAAD Project Funding

Here you will find an overview of all DAAD programmes that are currently advertised as well as those that are already running. Application deadlines are each year in early April, mid‑June and early October.

City of Heidelberg Foundation (Stadt-Heidelberg-Stiftung)

The City of Heidelberg Foundation provides grants to support outstanding doctoral candidates from Heidelberg University who wish to organise an international summer or winter symposium (Summer/Winter School) run by doctoral candidates for doctoral candidates. In order to be eligible, the symposium must focus on topics from the life sciences, natural sciences, humanities or social sciences that have a close substantive link to society, art and culture in either a contemporary or historic context of the city of Heidelberg, and the event must be made accessible to the interested public. Calls for proposals are issued each spring and autumn and are announced by the Graduate Academy.
