Excursions programmeCologne

Saturday, 9 November (English)

So the saying goes, “Köln ist ein Gefühl” - “Cologne is a feeling”. As the fourth largest city in Germany, Cologne attracts millions of visitors each year with its cosmopolitan flair, tolerance, and annual carnival.

Discover the history of the city, which stretches back over 2000 years, with a tour of Cologne’s old town. As well as the best known emblem of the city, the Kölner Dom (UNESCO World Heritage site), the Romanesque church of Great St. Martin, and the famous house facades at the city’s fish market, our tour will also lead us past many of Cologne’s distinctive sights. You’ll find out who Tünnes and Scheel are, where the only monument for the carnival can be found, and who drove the elfish “Heinzelmännchen” out of the city. Following the tour, you’ll have time to visit one of Cologne’s many museums and breweries.
