Liliana Ancalao is a professor of letters at the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco. She has published a number of books, including „Mujeres a la intemperie“ (2009), „Tejido con lana cruda“ (2010), „Neyen“ (2018), „Resuello“ (2019), and „El sol de siempre“ (2022). In „The silenced language - El idioma silenciado“, she describes how Mapudungun, the language of the land, became the language of pain and tearing. How did this happen? Centuries after the breakup, many have been able to return home, and Mapudungun has become a symbol of resistance and the recovery of memory. Mapuche poetry is silence, music, flower, and memory, and today it is once again a spoken language, but above all an echo of the language of the silenced peoples. How is it possible through literature to reclaim non-global languages? What is the link between language and Mapuche spirituality?
