LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION OF AN ACADEMIC PROGRAMME
Students may be required to demonstrate proficiency in one or more foreign languages as part of their application and enrolment for an academic programme, or if they wish to spend a period abroad. If prospective students are unable to demonstrate sufficient language proficiency in either modern or classical languages, they will have multiple opportunities to gain the required language skills during their academic programme at Heidelberg. This is generally the case for undergraduate programmes.
DO I NEED TO KNOW ANY FOREIGN LANGUAGES?
Many degree programmes require that you have some level of proficiency in modern and classical languages in order to enrol for the course. If applicants are not sufficiently proficient in the required languages at the time of enrolment, they are able to acquire the necessary language skills during the course of their studies.
Information on whether you require foreign language skills for a degree programme, and what level of proficiency is required, can be found in the respective examination rules and regulations. The examination and degree programme rules and regulations can be found in our download centre. For further specific information, students should contact the academic advisory services.
