HAI congratulates the award winner Binh Duong Thai and is delighted with this well-deserved honour. Thai is no stranger to us – after all, we were able to accompany his development to some extent: During his studies in Heidelberg, he was supported several times with the Amirana Scholarship, which is 100% funded by donations from alumni. The scholarship is aimed at medical students from the Global South. It was established by Dr Mahomed T. Amirana and Dr Annelene J. Amirana, who both studied Medicine in Heidelberg in the 1950s and have lived in the USA for decades. We would like to thank all donors who support Thai and other students on their way to a successful graduation and career start.
