The Germany Scholarship
The national scholarship program called Germany Scholarship represents a funding instrument providing targeted support of young top professionals of tomorrow. Since the introduction of this scholarship program at the University of Heidelberg in the winter semester 2011 | 2012, we have been able to support numerous students in their endeavor to deliver outstanding performances with the help of our friends and supporters. For this to remain the case, we need your support.
How it works
The Germany Scholarship is awarded once a year by a neutral selection committee at the start of each winter semester. Contrary to the BaföG which focuses on mass funding, the scholarship is a non-income-related program which supports high-achieving students of all nationalities. In addition to academic accomplishments, the main award criteria include volunteer activities as well as special personal or family circumstances such as a disability, a non-academic family background or a migrant background.
The amount of the scholarship is 3,600 euros per year and thus 300 euros per month. Half the award is paid by the federal government, and private donors cover the rest. The scholarship period of usually two semesters can only be extended until the end of the standard period of study if requirements are met. Everyone can be a donor, from companies through foundations to private individuals.
