Two other works of note on Byzantine Economics are Alan Harvey's "Economic
Expansion of the Byzantine Empire 900-1200", Cambridge University Press, 1989
and Warren T. Treadgold's "Byzantine State Finances in the Eighth and Ninth
Centuries" Columbia University Press, East European Monographs, No. CXXI,
1982. I believe both are still in print.
