International Projects
A number of international institutions and organisations provide funding for research in Heidelberg and international cooperations with Heidelberg University. The Heidelberg Research Service assists in reviewing the guidelines of international funders, submitting applications to the various funding programmes and gathering the required documentation.
Information on two key international funding organisations follows:
National Institutes of Health (NIH)
The NIH is the national funding agency for health research in the USA. Heidelberg University is a cooperation partner in several NIH projects, usually in a subcontracting role with universities and research institutes in the USA. German Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and
Development (GIF)
The GIF uses monies from the German Federal Ministry for Research and Technology and the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology. Projects from all scientific areas are accepted for a three year period with a budget of approx. 200,000 euros. Calls for proposals for specific areas of research are published annually.
