ERC Grants
The European Research Council (ERC) supports top researchers in the advancement of basic research and visionary projects and the development of new interdisciplinary fields of knowledge.
The funding lines include the ERC Starting Grant for junior researchers awarded their doctoral degree between two and seven years ago, the newly established ERC Consolidator Grant for researchers who have held their doctorate between seven and twelve years, and the ERC Advanced Grant for outstanding, established researchers. Also new is the ERC Synergy Grant for a small group of top researchers that allows them to bundle know-how and resources in an innovative way to collaboratively tackle research problems. The ERC Proof of Concept funding instrument gives ERC grantees the ability to translate the ideas that emerge from their research project into innovations.
Advisory Service and Project Management
The Heidelberg Research Service in the research division assists researchers throughout the entire project process: all phases of application preparation and submission, any contract negotiations needed, project management and project completion (see “Basic Work Steps” Checklist for FP7).
Note: Researchers at Heidelberg University can request funds from the Central Research Pool to prepare an application for ERC Grant funding.
