Advisory Service

The EU team and Heidelberg Research Service in the Research Division help prepare applications for research funding from the European Commission and other international funding organisations.

  • The Heidelberg Research Service team provides initial information on the EU programmes and EU research funding.
  • For the current calls for proposals within the EU Framework Programme, go to the Participant Portal.
  • Instructions for completing the A2 forms for EU applications can be found in the sample application (download on the right).
  • Initial funding from the Central Research Pool can be requested from the Research Division.

Participant Identity Code (PIC)

The unique Participant Identity Code (PIC) for every participating organisation in the 7th EU Research Framework Programme is assigned through the EU registration system (URF). Legal and financial information (as well as other documentation) is saved with the PIC Code. This data does not need to be resubmitted with every application or for contract negotiations. Every institution has only one PIC Code, i.e. valid for all EU projects of an institution.

Heidelberg University:
PIC: 999987648
Legal name: RUPRECHT-KARLS-UNIVERSITÄT HEIDELBERG
Short name: UHEI

Project Management

The Research Division, together with its EU team and Heidelberg Research Service, supports managing projects in the 7th Framework Programme. If a consortium is leading the project through Heidelberg University, Heidelberg Research Service and the EU team offer a variety of services for contract negotiations and project implementation.

  • Support for contract negotiations with the EU Commission
  • Creation of Grant Agreement Preparation Forms (GPFs)
  • Preparation and write-up of the consortium agreement (CA) between all the project partners
  • Organisation of project meetings, conferences and workshops in Heidelberg
  • Financial management of projects, e.g. setting up bank accounts, reporting to the EU Commission, cost certification (financial statements)
  • Organisation of an effective quality and risk management system
  • Support in disseminating and commercialising results, knowledge transfer within and outside of the project
  • Implementation and maintenance of a project web page
  • Advice on promotion of gender equality in the project

Heidelberg Research Service also provides limited assistance for third-party funding and administering EU projects that are not coordinated by Heidelberg University:

  • Creation of Grant Agreement Preparation Forms (GPFs)
  • Review of consortium agreements during negotiations
  • Financial management of projects
