“HAIlife” reports on the university’s alumni work all over the world
HAIlife 01/2010
The first edition of “HAIlife”

For its alumni and friends in Germany and all over the world, Heidelberg University is issuing a new magazine. The first edition of “HAIlife” has just been published by Heidelberg Alumni International (HAI). The 44-page periodical reports on alumni networks and activities, research and teaching at the university and current events in the city. Major topics in the first issue are the 625th anniversary of the university and the 15tanniversary of Heidelberg Alumni International, both to be celebrated next year.

The first edition of HAIlife contains reports on the opening of Heidelberg University’s Centre of Excellence in Santiago de Chile and the annual meeting of the United States alumni in Chicago. Also featured are the International Summer School 2010 in Heidelberg and an interview with alumna Prof. Dr. Juliane Kokott, Advocate General at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. There is also information on the alumni anniversary celebration next June, integrated into the general festivities connected with the university’s 625th anniversary.

Heidelberg University has reorganised its efforts on behalf of the approx. 6,400 former students, graduates and staff registered with HAI. A new staff unit has been established within the Rectorate, where HAI and the Society of Friends of Heidelberg University (GdF) will be liaising with one another. “Putting all alumni activities under one roof is an important step in creating a bigger team and a wider range of activities to win new alumni and strengthen the attachment to the university in those we already have,” says Rector Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eitel.

“HAIlife” magazine is available from Heidelberg Alumni International, Marstallstr. 6, Heidelberg, alumni@zuv.uni-heidelberg.de
