Ruperto Carola up ten places in the international ranking list
In the recently published Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking for 2011/2012, Heidelberg University placed 73rd, up a full ten places over last year. The ranking confirms Ruperto Carola’s standing among the world’s leading universities, as well as placing it 3rd among the top universities in Germany. A total of four universities in Germany made it into the top 100, with another eight coming in between spots 101 and 200.
In all three of the major international rankings, Heidelberg University holds one of the top three positions among German universities, therefore making it one of the world’s best 100 universities in each. Heidelberg University fared especially well in the QS World University Ranking for 2011 released in September, where it again placed first in Germany and was rated 53rd in the world. In the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Heidelberg placed third in Germany and 62nd internationally.
The THE ranking is based on 13 individual indicators in the areas of teaching, research, citations, knowledge transfer into industry and internationality.
