DFG Research Units
A Research Unit funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) is made up of a team of outstanding researchers of the university, partly in cooperation with scientists and scholars of other institutions, working together on an intensive, medium-term research project (generally for six years). Research Units often contribute to establishing new research directions.
