Speech Training and Speech Science

Within the Language Centre, the specialist area of Speech Training and Speech Science is responsible for researching and teaching the theory and practice of oral communication. Students are introduced to the foundations of Speech Training as an academic discipline, and this process covers the related areas of Speech Education (Sprechbildung), Speech Therapy (Sprechtherapie), the study of Rhetoric (Rhetorische Kommunikation), and the Art of Speaking (Sprechkunst and Ästhetische Kommunikation).

Speech Training and Speech Science are engaged in analysing, practising, and reflecting on all areas of oral communicaton. Our courses are relevant to all professions in which oral communication is important, and our qualifications validate the communicative abilities of the students.

Our courses are open to students from all faculties, especially to those who would like to work in this area in the future.

Students from Applied Theology, the Institute for Translation and Interpreting, and the Institute for German as a Foreign Language, are required to attend courses in Speech Training and Speech Science.

None of our classes require prior registration.
