In the 2024 summer term, office hours take place on Tuesdays from 2 to 4 pm.

Dissertation:
"Greasers, Gringos, and Atrocities in the U.S.-Mexican War, 1846-1848"

CV:
Andreas Riffel earned his university entrance qualification in 2003. Thereafter he spent several months in Peru doing voluntary work. From April 2004 to July 2009 he studied History and Romance Languages (Spanish and Portuguese) at Heidelberg University and the University of Seville (Spain). He completed his M.A. with a thesis titled “Greasers and Gringos. Stereotypes, Discrimination, and Violence between Americans and Mexicans in the Center of the 19th Century”. He worked as a student academic assistant at the Heidelberg University Archives (July 2006 to July 2007) and as a tutor for graduate students at the Curt Engelhorn Chair in American History at Heidelberg University (October 2009 to January 2010), where he is a research associate since April 2010. From May to August 2011, the German Historical Institute Washington DC sponsored his archival research by a doctoral fellowship. He handed in the manuscript of his dissertation "Greasers, Gringos, and Atrocities in the U.S.-Mexican War, 1846-1848" in mid-March 2016.
