Im Rahmen des DFG-Forschungsprojekts „Moderne religiöse Erlebnisgesellschaften - Mediale und ästhetische Präsentation von Lehren christlich orientierter Organisationen in den USA“ findet mit dem Teilprojekt "The Congregation of the Damned: Inside the Raider Nation" eine Kooperation mit den Religionswissenschaften der Universität Heidelberg statt.

"This project is an interdisciplinary examination of the Oakland Raiders (NFL) fan base—the Raider Nation. The Nation will be theorized and examined as a congregation, an approach that will help illuminate not only issues of fan culture in contemporary America, but will probe beneath the “analogous to” or “almost” religious features of the fan base and treat it seriously as a religious body."
