Biography:

Hofmann, Peter (Prof. Dr. rer. nat., Dr. rer. nat. habil.); diploma 1970, Ph. D. 1973 (University of Erlangen); Liebig fellow of the "Fonds der Chemischen Industrie", 1974 and 1977 Postdoc, Cornell University, Ithaca, USA (Roald Hoffmann); habilitation 1978 (University of Erlangen, Paul v. Ragué Schleyer); Emmy Noether Award 1978; 1979 visiting associate professor, University of California Berkeley (A. Streitwieser jr.); 1980 associate professor (University of Erlangen); 1981 "Dozenten-Award" of the "Fonds der Chemischen Industrie", 1981-1983 guest chair at the TU München (E. O. Fischer); since 1983 associate professor, TU München (Institute of Inorganic Chemistry); visiting professorships at the universities of Bern, Ulm, TU and FU Berlin, Heidelberg and Rennes; 1995 offer of a chair in organic chemistry at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (F. Bickelhaupt's chair); since 1995 full professor of organic chemistry, University of Heidelberg. Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences 2002-2004. 2004-2008 Vice Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences. Visiting professorship at the Univ. Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg (France), winter semester 04/05. 2006 Member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences. Initiation and research management of CaRLa, the joint Catalysis Research Laboratory of the University of Heidelberg and BASF (since 2006). Recipient of the Emil Fischer medal of the GDCh 2008. In 2011 election as a member of the Academy of Science and Arts of Nordrhein-Westfalen. 2012 Elected as the 1st Charles and Martha Casey Lecturer on Organometallic Chemistry, U. of Wisconsin, Madison, USA.
