Quantitatvie Biology

To gain insights into mechanism determining cellular communication, it is important to quantitatively examine the dynamic interplay of multiple systems components. Due to the complexity of biological system the development of mathematical models based on suitable experimental data can be a very valuable approach to identify general design principles and to quantitatively predict systems behavior in response to perturbation.
Therefore they aim of the course is to introduce state-of-the-art methods and strategies to generate quantitative data for cytokine networks, signaling pathways and metabolic components appropriate for mathematical modeling.

In detail the course will cover:
- Quantitative Immunoblotting
- Quantitative Protein Arrays
- Multiplex-ELISA
- Real-Time PCR
- RNA Interference
- Imaging
- Quantification of Metabolic Enzymes

Further integrative courses are available in the major 'Infectious deseases' (Bartenschlager / Kräußlich) and 'Developmental Biology' (Holstein). Please ask for further information!
