PicoSEC Workshop 2015 – Closing Meeting

The  PICOSEC  Workshop  from  22.10.-25.10.2015  in  Heidelberg  will  be  the  closing  meeting  of  all  scientists involved in the PICOSEC project tending to exchange their scientific work and results. PICOSEC (Pico-second Silicon Photomultiplier- Electronics- & Crystal Research) is a European Marie Curie training project. It has brought together early career researchers and experienced colleagues from across Europe, to take part in a structured, integrated and multidisciplinary training program for young researchers in an R&D project geared to develop a new class of ultra-‐fast photon detectors for Positron-Emission-Tomography (PET) and High Energy Physics (HEP). The core activity was ToF-‐PET (Time-‐of-‐Flight PET) development for clinical applications. In addition, also future accelerators and particle physics experiments count on such detectors in order to cope with the new demands on luminosity pushed to new limits beyond the existing LHC. The PICOSEC project was run by public and private organizations and was based on a common research program, aiming to increase the skills exchange between public and private sectors.
