Mission Statement
By formulating its responsibilities in its Mission Statement, its Gender Action Plan and the Senate Guideline on harassment policy and procedures, Heidelberg University presents itself as a 21st century research and teaching institution. Active in research the university commits itself to increase and spread knowledge of human beings and the world and to guarantee freedom in research and teaching. It is also highly aware of its responsibility towards people, society, and nature.
By this means the university commits itself to diversity and plurality of all those who decide to take up studies or pursue a career at Heidelberg University.
Beyond its commitment to equal opportunities for women and men and the promotion of compatibility of family life and career, Heidelberg University upholds the principles of diversity and equal opportunities for all its members and has therefore an impact beyond the bounds of the university.
