Buddy Programme
The International Relations Office of Heidelberg University, in cooperation with various departments, offers a Buddy Programme designed to help international students adjust to every aspect of their new life as a student in Heidelberg. International students who participate are assigned a personal “buddy” (another student from Heidelberg) to lend a helping hand.
Click here for more information on the participating departments, eligibility, and any other details.
Workshops and tutorials
Every semester, the International Relations Office offers workshops and tutorials designed to support international students in their student life in Heidelberg. There are courses on intercultural competence as well as the basic reading, writing and presentation skills your university coursework require. Click here for further information.
Wednesday movie night
The Wednesday movie night of the International Relations Office, in conjunction with the Institut für Deutsch als Fremdsprachenphilologie (Institute for German as a Foreign Language Philology), shows selected films on the large screen and in stereo. The films are selected based on their regional, cultural and language value. The topic and content are explained in detail; in-depth discussion will follow the presentation.

IDeFix is back! IDeFix is the name of the theatre group of the Seminar für Deutsch als Fremdsprachenphilologie (Institute for German as a Foreign Language Philology). We want to encourage all students interested in the theatre to take the stage. We believe that acting is one of the most spirited, joy-filled and effective ways to learn German and experience the language in all its facets.
Building on general theatrical training for the voice and body, we create a theatrical revue of mini-dramas that we present to the public at the end of the semester, complete with make-up, costumes, stage lighting, and stage fright.
Participants in this project seminar will learn the basic processes and techniques used in theatrical production. That means you will be included in the overall organisation of our production, and in addition to acting, you will also assist in one of the following areas: dramatics, stage design, costumes and props, stage management, lighting, sound, PR and advertising, or assistant directing.
Welcome to IDeFix!
Please note: You will need knowledge of German to participate in this course.
